Does a fast shear measurement method actually correct its own biases?

Measuring cosmic shear from galaxy shapes reveals dark matter's distribution, but speed-optimized methods introduce systematic errors. This work tests whether a "field distortion" calibration—applying artificial distortions to real data—can reliably correct these biases in the Self-Weighted Shear Estimation method. On simulated and real survey data, it works, matching the precision of slower, more careful approaches.
