Gravitational lensing—light bending around massive objects—reveals dark matter and cosmic expansion rates. A new implementation of the lenstronomy software in JAX, a machine learning library with GPU acceleration and automatic differentiation, maintains the same interface while dramatically speeding computation. This unlocks gradient-based inference methods that were computationally intractable before.
