Researchers built broadband spectra for 93 Fermi blazars using nearly simultaneous data across radio to gamma-ray, then measured correlations among spectral peaks, luminosity, and variability. They confirm the blazar sequence—a controversial pattern linking brightness to jet properties—but only after correcting for Doppler boosting, and find that the two main blazar classes follow different rules. The results suggest particle acceleration in these jets involves mixed mechanisms, not the single dominant process theorists prefer.
