Can quark matter prevent black holes from forming singularities?

During gravitational collapse, can the extreme quark matter present in the early universe prevent black holes from developing singularities? Using two different QCD-inspired models of matter under extreme pressure and temperature, researchers found that neither avoids the central singularity—temperature diverges at the center in both cases, blocking any regular (non-singular) interior. A resolution would require either an inner vacuum phase or physics beyond current models.
