Can AI spot gravitational waves bent by invisible objects?

When massive objects bend spacetime, they can magnify distant gravitational waves—creating multiple copies of the same event. Searching for these "lensed" pairs currently requires expensive comparisons of thousands of candidates. The authors built a neural network that works directly on raw detector data to rapidly identify matching pairs, reaching 95% accuracy on simulated Einstein Telescope noise. The method sidesteps slower image-based approaches and could unlock lensed-wave discoveries in upcoming catalogs.
