Quantum universe creation rate sharpened with fluctuation corrections

Using Euclidean path integrals in a minisuperspace framework, this calculation extends the standard de Sitter instanton result by appending the exact Gaussian prefactor — the contribution from small quadratic fluctuations around the saddle point. The Hamiltonian constraint is applied at the classical level, keeping the treatment tractable while still going beyond the leading exponential suppression. The outcome is a self-consistent semiclassical nucleation rate for a closed universe that is more complete than earlier estimates, though it stops short of integrating over the full lapse function.
