Reviving ruled-out inflation models with a kinetic energy twist

Standard chaotic inflation with monomial potentials has been ruled out by precision measurements of the spectral tilt and tensor-to-scalar ratio. Allowing the inflaton's kinetic energy term to deviate from its canonical form adds a free parameter that shifts the model's predictions back into the allowed region. Using MCMC analysis against a combined Planck, ACT DR6, and BICEP/Keck dataset, the non-canonical parameter is constrained to percent-level precision for three potential shapes, and the required number of e-folds settles naturally near 54 without fine-tuning.
