Does tweaking gravity's rules change how the universe expands?

By coupling curvature to matter in a modified gravity framework, three parameterized models are fitted to cosmic chronometer and Pantheon supernova datasets using Bayesian statistics. All three reproduce the observed transition from deceleration to acceleration and return a universe age consistent with standard estimates. The exercise is a consistency check: modified gravity can mimic standard cosmology, but doesn't yet demand it.
