What's actually missing from every Kerr black hole diagram?

Malcolm A. H. MacCallum

June 4, 2026

Every textbook diagram of the rotating Kerr black hole is missing a piece. By treating the ring singularity region as two flat discs rather than one, a forgotten triangular patch of spacetime at negative radius becomes visible — and should appear as multiple copies in the full extended diagram. It's a geometric bookkeeping error that has persisted in the standard depiction for decades.
