Do rare particle decays hint at physics beyond the Standard Model?

Rare decays of bottom and strange quarks show persistent deviations from Standard Model predictions. Using effective field theory, researchers fitted these anomalies to identify which new particles or interactions could be responsible, then checked predictions against kaon decay measurements. They found that flavor symmetries naturally suppress unwanted side effects while matching all current data.
