Can jets hide signatures of undiscovered particles?

Lorenzo Ricci, Marc Riembau, Minho Son

Energy correlators—precise measurements of how energy flows inside jets—follow predictable patterns from known physics. The authors show that new particles would leave detectable bumps in this smooth background, turning jets into sensitive detectors. They apply this to hypothetical light Z' particles and find the method rivals conventional searches, opening a new window for physics beyond the Standard Model.
