Using supercomputer simulations of quantum chromodynamics, researchers calculated how quarks and gluons are distributed inside pions and kaons—the lightest particle messengers in the strong force. They measured increasingly complex moments of these distributions and reconstructed the full velocity patterns of quarks inside these particles, comparing against earlier lattice results and particle physics predictions.
