When quantum waves decay at both ends, what stays quantized?

Solving differential equations where multiple independent solutions decay at each boundary creates unusual constraints. The authors derive the weakest quantization conditions compatible with this dual decay, then show these match predictions from topological string/spectral duality for deformed Schrödinger equations. This bridges quantum mechanics, integrable systems, and string theory in a concrete way.
