Can Rydberg atoms reveal hidden symmetries at the edge between two quantum phases?

A new conformal interface connects the Tricritical Ising and Ising phases—two building blocks of statistical mechanics. The researchers identified unexpected W₃ symmetry at this boundary and derived testable predictions for Rydberg atom experiments, where the quantum phase transition can be directly observed through defect spectra and observables.
