Can impurities stabilize multiple solitons in modified field theories?

The authors studied how impurities (localized defects) affect scalar field theories with unusual kinetic terms. They found that multi-kink solitons—distinct particle-like structures—can coexist stably when impurities are present, extending BPS solutions beyond uniform field theories. This suggests impurities can geometrically organize complex field configurations.
