Can we build black holes with a new kind of charge conservation?

Standard black hole physics conserves electric charge via particle currents. This work replaces that with a higher-form symmetry where the number of field lines piercing a surface is the conserved quantity. By modifying gravity's action to respect this new symmetry, the author derives black hole solutions that resemble Reissner-Nordström geometry but with effective charge varying along certain spacetime slices—suggesting charge conservation can be encoded geometrically in unexpected ways.
