How do charged black holes switch between quantum states?

Using holographic duality, researchers studied how quantum systems dual to charged black holes transition between phases. They computed mean escape times and fluctuations for state switching across multiple thermodynamic ensembles, revealing how the system's fundamental parameters—charge and quantum dimension—control the kinetics of phase competition.
