Does blockchain network structure predict economic stress?

Deep Nath, Paolo Tasca, Nikhil Vadgama, Marco Alberto Javarone

May 26, 2026

Researchers built a two-component metric to measure inefficiency in how capital flows through the Hedera blockchain. Using six years of transaction data, they found network topology tightens during market stress and expands during periods of rapid innovation, tracking major economic events better than raw transaction volume alone.
