How periodic tweaks to a quantum sensor push its precision to the limit

By spacing unusual coupling strengths at regular intervals in a non-Hermitian chain, the authors reshape its topological properties — including the exotic 'skin effect' where all wave functions pile up at one edge. Near the resulting spectral phase transitions, these modular structures dramatically sharpen measurement sensitivity, offering a practical route to high-precision sensors that can track several quantities at once.
