Building artificial three-level quantum systems without exotic atoms

Physicists mapped a pair of three-level quantum systems onto an effective synthetic three-level structure using SU(3) group algebra — no exotic Rydberg states required. They identified nine entangled states that do the job and introduced two new measures to track how entanglement evolves in these configurations. Cleaner implementations of three-level quantum logic could simplify photonic and superconducting quantum hardware design.
